Applications for the Class of 2023 and Class of 2024 are now open!

How to apply

Minds Matter NYC is recruiting current high school freshmen (Class of 2024) and sophomores (Class of 2023) to join our program in Fall 2021!

Student applicants must complete the following 4 sections by March 31, 2021. Click the links to view forms:

Part 1: Student Application

Part 2: Guidance/College Counselor Nomination Form

Part 3: Teacher Recommendation

Part 4: Parent/Guardian Consent Form 

Please send links to Parts 2-4 directly to the appropriate adults.

A Minds Matter applicant must:

  • Be a freshman student in the 2020-2021 school year/                                            sophomore student in the 2020-2021 school year
  • Maintain a strong overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Be committed to pursuing a college education
  • Must qualify for free or reduced-price lunch
  • Demonstrate strong academic potential, motivation, maturity, and responsibility

In order to reach those who most need our services, Minds Matter is committed to serving students who are not being served by other programs, including students at highly resourced schools. As such, we do not accept students from New York City’s specialized high schools.

  • Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts
  • Hunter College High School
  • High School for Mathematics, Science and Engineering at the City College of NY
  • High School of American Studies at Lehman College
  • Queens High School for the Sciences at York College
  • Staten Island Technical High School
  • Stuyvesant High School
