• Must pass a criminal background check, undergo child protection training, and sign-off on youth protection policies
• Commit to attending at least 80% of Saturday sessions throughout your time in the program

Yes! We provide ongoing support. New volunteers receive onboarding training, and we offer supplemental trainings during your time with MMNYC. Additionally, our Team Leaders and Program Directors work closely with staff to ensure you have the resources you need. And of course, staff is also available to offer support and answer questions.

Volunteers are not responsible for lesson/curriculum planning – we provide you with the materials to structure each session.

You will receive a preview of the week’s curriculum before each session, and the Team Leader or Program Director will review the material at the session’s beginning.

You can contribute to our work in many ways outside of volunteering, including:

• Supporting our programs with a one-time or monthly gift
• Spreading the word about our mission on social media or with your network
• Checking if your employer offers donation matching or other programs to amplify your support
• Asking your employer if they’d like to become a corporate partner

Absolutely! Most of our volunteers learn of MMNYC by word of mouth, so you can encourage your friends and colleagues to become volunteers, too. Many volunteers also connect us to their workplaces for partnership opportunities and share our work with their networks.
